Some MS-DOS Fun with Star Control

I checked out Star Control this evening. It’s a a sci-fi war game where you play as either space alien faction, each with seven different alien spaceships that have their own maneuvering and firing characteristics. I decided to play Melee mode as both factions and successfully beaten the computer player twice on standard difficulty without losing any spaceships.

Hierarchy Ending
Alliance Ending

Crazy fun strategy game but what I don’t like about this game is that it has planets which can take away your current spaceship’s crew members until it explodes if you stay stuck on them. Other than that, I love this cool game! 🙂

BATTLE CHESS IN SPAAAAAAAACE!!!

I decided to torture myself with some Battle Chess 4000, which is a board game where the standard chess pieces have been replaced by alien creatures and space humans on a giant chessboard inside a space station. Here’s what the gameplay looks like:

The game features an opening library of 300,000 moves and SVGA graphics. For example, this is a Ruy Lopez opening.

Just like any other chess game, the objective is to checkmate your opponent’s king before they do the same thing to yours.

For instance, I managed to beat the computer player by capturing his King with my Rook after checkmating him.

This is a really fun intergalactic chess game, and what I like about it are the awesome battle animations and certain features like rewinding or fast forwarding to any played turn. There’s also a feature where the player can take back a move every time they make a mistake. But yeah, I enjoyed playing it. 🙂

Another good round of Adobe Illustratifying Artworkification

I forgot to put something up yesterday. I’ve been messing around with more of Adobe Illustrator, and I used my Wacom tablet to draw my own version of Azalea from the Mario Golf series:

The whole story behind this artwork is Azalea conquering the Blue Moon on her outer space journey after decapitating two alien invaders with her katana. 🙂
